Little Philmont Training
While the Boys are out "Mushing" around Camp Thunderbird, the Young Mens Leaders will be warm inside the Stamper Lodge at camp Thunderbird participating in LDS Scout specific "Little Philmont" training.
FAQs
Q. Can I come for the training on Saturday only?
A. Yes, but we encourage all leaders to brave the cold with the scouts for the entire event, if possible. If you come on Saturday only, be sure to arrive early enough to enjoy breakfast with the young men in the lodge (7:30 – 8:45)!
Q.Will this be the same training as the Little Philmont Training in Independence last year?
A.There will be some overlap in information, but the major difference will be the program-specific training required of all leaders. This is a 6-hour course being taught in 2.5 hours. The Finance session will focus on financing the scouting programs in the Columbia Stake.
Q. What will I come away with?
Each leader participating will leave with an information packet, receive information on resources available, and be on track to completing the necessary training for carrying out a successful scouting program.
A.To have an idea of the quantity of materials that will be needed, please designate one person from each unit to contact the Stake Young Men’s Presidency by Saturday, January 26th with the number of leaders planning to attend the training!
